...Can we just agree that the Late 90's to the mid 2000's (from like 98 to about 04/05) was the second golden age for hip hop? Now hear me out, the original golden age(85-93) was un fukkwitable, but during this time period, not only was rap at it commercial PEAK, but the rappers didn't have to completely compromise their sound and cater to *ahem* middle America.

Not only that, but hip still seemed like...HIP-HOP compared to what it is now. Every region still had a distinct sound. There was so much variety. You could be listening to a ludacris joint one minuet and next minuet you're listening to nas' "one mic"

Not to mention all the crews like Ruff Ryders, Roca-fella, Murder Inc. Aftermath, Dip-set, Cash Money, No-limit, G-unit etc etc. Shyt was crazy when you think about it.

Now a days the only legit crew we have is TDE. Every other camp is either dead, on it's last leg, or it's just a facade.

Man I'm just ranting brehs.

feel free to discuss brehs....

I mean.. hip hop was just amazing from the late 80s through like 03/04.. I think 87 - 96 was the golden age in the broadest sense.. It kind of comes down to personal taste

Yo paradigm skips 94-97 though :dahell:

too much "east coast/west coast" nonsense :mjpls:

push commercially hip hop was at it's peak in the late90's to early 00's and the artists for the most part could still do them.

94-97 = the years RZA spent as hermit, perfecting his craft & knocking down beats. Just off of that... 94-97 was essential
