Meeks is defensible, he had an extremely good season in LA and could potentially play up to that value in a steady environment.

Butler not so much.

I fail to see the problem with those contracts.
you fail to see the problem with caron butler getting paid 4.5 million dollars next year?

yea fail to see the problem with meeks getting paid 7 million a season?

similar contracts to meeks are

monta ellis
oj mayo
jeff teague
george hill(he sucks)

etc.

meeks had one good season on a very bad team and got overpaid. meeks is a MLE player at best.

The D (where it's so cold)
D.J. Augustine 2 yrs 6 mil is a good deal though.

he gave us 15 and 5 while playing 70 games and only starting 9 :manny:

I definitely like the deal Augustine got, I expect him to be a heavy in the rotation now teams will have to respect the 3 point line.

Caron tho.:patrice: Not to knock Tuff Juice but if the Pistons are getting the Caron that was playing poorly for the Thunder then I don't get this signing the bench is already overloaded.

You have to overpay to get people to live in Detroit...He's explained this in an around about way several times...

Overpaying for stars? sure, but over paying for veterans isn't necessary since more playing time will help their marketability even in a small market. And besides so pro player actually lives anywhere near Detroit so that's really shouldn't be an issue. How many pro athletes have you heard being robbed in Detroit?

Not really sure what purpose Butler is gonna serve but it's only a 2 year deal with a option after 1. It's clear that SVG is putting a premium on the 3pt line to create spacing for Andre and maybe Monroe. It's not like he gave Josh Smiff (no typo) a max deal or anything.

I'm just telling you what SVG has given as his explanation for the deals.. He was just on LeBatard last week stating as much..

I wouldn't question him given his track record.. The Pistons are gonna be DRASTICALLY improved next year...

SVG been doing pretty good. you should be worried about your coach under utilizing his talent, as usual :sas2:

I definitely like the deal Augustine got, I expect him to be a heavy in the rotation now teams will have to respect the 3 point line.

carons deal is a team option for the second year so he might get traded since its like an expiring deal essentially
