Why does a video game need a good story?
I never go into a video with the need for good storytelling.
The shyt needs to be fun
Not every game NEEDS a good story.
But,it's 2017,not 1993.
Video games can be a very powerful medium for story telling.
If you are making a big budget game then why wouldn't a good story also be a priority?
It's off putting when games have shyt stories because it takes you out of the experience.
The fact is,there is good stories happening now,the bar has been raised.
For me it's unacceptable that a game like the tomb raider reboot comes out and has a bunch of stereotypes(I haven't played the sequel) for characters and a garbage story. That's unacceptable in a narrative driven game in this day and age when games exist that have done it well.
These games cost upwards of $50 million to produce.
I want a reason to care about why I'm playing.
I don't expect a Mario game to have some grand story. But I expect a game like this to.
You can make a fun game AND make a great story.
