Usually around this time we have rumblings of a slim Ps5 or smaller Xbox.
But it's largely been crickets.
GPUs seem louder and heavier than before. Are we at the limit of how small these things can get? Could this be part of the reason why even upper end cards aren't doing 120-240fps at native resolution for older games (like cyberpunk 2077 or alan wake 2)
If software is becoming a bigger deal. Does this mean we could potentially have longer console generations? I don't mind waiting another 5 years for new consoles to be announced as long as developers are still putting out products with more speed since they've gotten familiar with the hard ware. Some studios are hesitant to start development if they think a new console will just be announced in 2 or 3 years. If they know its at least another 5 or 6 years away, prices can cool and that would lead to more hardware sales. We theoretically could have a ps5 for 299. Frankly, we SHOULD.
