Yeah they stopped updating iDVD player. QuickTime is the standard multimedia player right out the box for macs unless you download something else.

As for controllers, they say that you can use PS3 and 360 controllers. I've never got my PS3 controller to work due to button mapping issues. I might cop a 360 controller just to be safe. Although, others have successfully paired their controllers to their macs easily. I don't think you can play games on Apple TV yet, unless it's jail broken or something.
