Somalians have weird location patterns but a big reason is refugee. Not sure if refugee is the reason for Minnesota since it’s so large there but refugee usually get sent to random places. Somalians are in Maine too and you got the Syrians that were placed in St. Louis for refugee for example

When they were given refugee status in the 90’s, the U.S agreed to take a certain number (I believe around 100k). When coming to the US, the government sent them to 3 major cities to keep them together and their community homogeneous for better adaptation; Minneapolis, MN; Columbus, OH; I forgot the third city.
