Looking at some of these rappers' sales these days... all that grinding and it's leading to nothing. Meanwhile, your favorite country or alternative artist is selling units without needing 5 free mixtapes to do it. :pachaha:

Traditional rap music (not this hipster/indie BS) is falling off in the worst way... minus Kendrick and a few others...

Can we get a link to the original story? The formatting of your post looks like as5 and is confusing ... didn't translate well from site-to-site.

There... fixed it best I could. Should be able to read it now. I see the charts like that all the time so it doesn't bother me to read it like that, but I can see how that shyt looks like the Matrix code to some people. :russ:

Rap is suffering but this is a bad example. The top list has over 50 albums listed but the country section has 15 and Rock has 6. If you listed 50 in each category it wouldn't surprise me if the other genres are struggling as much as rap.

All three genres should have a more comparable pool to give an accurate idea of whos selling and whos not.

I could post ALL of that... but the post would be long as all fukking hell. :lolbron:

But the point was this... there are more gold+ selling artists in just the top of country/rock lists than there were rap albums in the top 25 rap albums. Rihanna is pop/R&B, as is Alicia now, and we all know what Justin does.

I'm not saying that music as a whole isn't suffering... I'm saying that the breakthrough artists in other genres are getting the fame AND the sales. Folks said for years that rock was dead yet it's outselling the most popular genre among young people.

Speaking of guitars....
I was at this chics house yesterday,, and she was playing the guitar but then one of the guitar strings cut her nipple as she laid the guitar along her chest.

I mean just look at them!!!!

That's the operative word "young people" the genre is just as popular but young people pirate most of the music where as Country and Rock (I am assuming) have a more mature (older age) following so they are conditioned to go in the store and buy their albums. The new artists should just change their point of sale instead of changing genres.

That would make sense if some of those artists I had named weren't debut artists.

Lumineers? Debut album. Platinum. Off one top 3 single.
Fun.? Second album (kinda like GKMC is Kendrick's 2nd). Platinum. Thanks to a #1 hit and 2 other top 40s.
Imagine Dragons. Debut major album. Right at 900k and reaching platinum. Off of 1 top 10 single.

Kendrick is the only relatively new artist coming close to that, besides the usual suspects of Drake & Nicki.

Meanwhile in country, a lot of them are going platinum within a year's time, unlike most rap artists. And I know country has a fanbase like no other, but my point was that rappers can't sustain that nearly as well. Look at Wiz's second album sales. T.I. is scraping to gold when he was doing 1.5 mil every time out. Hell, artists like Styles P, Noreaga, Ghostface, etc. can't even do 100k anymore. Just amazing how quick we move in our genre when other genres can see their artists go gold+ for years on end.
