Fair point. I think the large land creature catalog in the US have been fleshed out since the late 1800s/early 1900s or something. I don't think Bigfoot exists currently. Maybe there's some bear bi-pedal stuff going on at best but it's a hoax to me in modern times.

Can't speak for the past, especially when everything from then is either hazy at best from historical descriptors or suspiciously similar across the planet (ex. dragons).
