The Half-Blood FKA Prince
Avada Kedavbreh!
Yeah i feel what u saying. And as a breh u are entitled to that. To me, while it is a celebration of freedom, its also a solemn observation of the fact that long overdue freedom was still tragically denied to the good black folk of texas a good 2 and a half years even after our emancipation was declared and made federal law, And the lives lost, men and women brutalized and raped and slaughtered in that time span.Yes there are aspects to celebrate, because we are no longer slaves bound in chains working on plantations. That is joyous. We sure as hell better be grateful to our ancestors and happy about that. I have absolutely no problem with how people choose to do holidays. I said I look at it differently. But that was my point.. if black people out here calling it a celebration and having parades and festivals, why on earth would a white person think it wouldn’t be appropriate to say happy Juneteenth to us when we are saying it to each other. They see it must be joyous for them, so let me also say happy Juneteenth as well. That’s all I was saying lol
And i think that is where the disconnect comes in. And why education is fundemental here. I dont think many white folk are even aware of that part of the story, and might be scratching their heads wondering where the tragic element falls in. Aside from the obvious fact that slavery was already a tragedy to begin with. They believe its strictly a celebration of freedom.
