When you get in ya car do you let it run for a lil bit or do you just get in and go..

I always heard people say you suppose to let ya car run for a while before you drive... but why is that?

I noticed I don't let my car sit, I just drive..
I don't want to be messing my car up.. So am I suppose to be waiting or what somebody let me know..

I live in wakk ass cold as siberia chicago I always let my car run 15-20 mins before leaving
