Somebody on facebook said they paid for gas on their debit card and the gas station put a $100 hold on the card

Yeah it's happened to me before but it was a long time ago, like maybe 15 years ago. I don't think it happens as much anymore because so many people don't pay with cash as much as they used to.

Yeah this is pretty common everywhere now. I really don't recommend using debit cards in public either if you can avoid it. Too much fraud going on out there to have your personal funds tied up in some bs. I got skimmed once and never used my debit card again lol.

Some gas stations still do this shyt. Happened to me before, kinda often ten years ago actually.

Then on other side, most cars just put a $1 hold on there, so people can just overdraft their checking accounts if they want/need to.

Yea I get 150 dollar hold on my card when I get gas but it usually falls off pretty quickly

True this. I was heavy with using debit for everything after college til my pops told me to use credit card, and not a moment too soon. I got hit by a skimmer recently at a gas station, but I was using my Mastercard, so it was the bank's headache.

Just budget every month and you won't fall into the trap of using the bank's "free" money.

Yep. I only pay bills from my main account. Everything else is through credit cards. Not putting my own money other there at risk at all these days.
