...a half-Kenyan president raised in Hawaii and Indonesia by a white woman, and a barely half-Jamican vice president raised in Canada by an Indian woman represent black folks with ancestry in this country?
We had this discussion last week or 2 weeks ago

Obama was black because he did work in inner city Chicago (south side) he married a full blooded black woman, so to whites and blacks he was a black person even though culturally I don't believe so (his track record and the fact he was raised in a white household in a white area) Kamala was seen as black because of the one drop rule, she isn't american black but caribbean (of which her dad is half black and mom full Indian) but because she "listened to 2pac and smoked weed in college" she was seen by black by her supporters. It's working with what you have and what sounds good (I don't consider Kamala black, Barack gets a pass bc Michelle isn't a c00n)

Funny thing is those who aren’t AA are the biggest supporters of the “we all black” mantra, yet will differentiate themselves and tell their ethnicity at any chance they get. We shouldn’t be calling any place that holds black people shytholes, yet it’s ok to do just that and shyt on the AA’s homes. It’s all so fake and disingenuous.

We’re not going anywhere until folks start taking pride in themselves, stop running from the past; in particular from 1619 - 1865. We’ve let others convince us and tell us we have no culture, and that we should be pretty much ashamed of everything from 1619 forward.
facts

And the whole we have no culture.history shyt is hilarious

Like think about it. How many people are actively going back 400 years whether they be black african, white european asian etc

Just using Ados history, we are going back as far as the average person is with there own respective history

you got people whose "ancestors" came here in the 1920's

my great grandmother who was born in 1905 and lived into 2010s has more clout by herself

Some good points raised in this thread.

How do we define black, but more importantly why have whites been allowed to define it, whether it be through the one drop rule or otherwise? It's wild how much the line has been blurred to the point where some folks will accept anyone as black so long as they're viewed as a "nikka" by cacs.

Please, don't start this.

Let's just keep this about Kamala's political career.

:whoa: Not the Willie Brown stuff.

Again, I can't stand here, but, I'm done with the personal attack.

I'm not here for the "black-ing" it up that is definitely coming. But, let's not do this. It's not the hill to die on.

If her parents were Philip And Vivian Banks her time as California AG was shameful.

They are Black Americans and deserve every right to run for the presidency.

If this was Jim Crow era, they would be considered ******s by white folks no matter what their background was.

In essence, they are the continuation of the African-American struggle for achievement in a nation where we've survived extermination to rise above everything.
Exactly I'm not a fan of either but OP is confusing race with ethnicity and American has a problem with race more than everything, this is well documented.
