I did not see this coming when I watched this dude move up to heavyweight and outbox Jon Ruiz for the title.
They were comparing him to Sugar Ray Robinson, and I thought Roy was smart enough to be one of the rare boxers to ride off into the sunset, still on top, financially OK, and go into commentating full time.
This is really sad to see, but it seems you can't tell Roy shyt.

I would say it's money, & it still may be; but he has a successful job calling fights on HBO & I worry for those of us who aren't as old to just look at the end of his career. Nobody could beat him, & I'd like to see him go out as the fun touting fighter who played around in the ring with his hands behind his back & whooped your ass. Glad he won this one & we don't have video of him dropping flat on his face circling like the last one.

Roy was up there with SRR and prime Roy is still one of the GOATs, he hasn't had a fight that counted in 10 ish years.
But anyone who saw he was going to move down to LHW after moving up to HW knew that he was fukked. Bare minimum that's 25lbs. Try gaining 25lbs (most being muscle) fighting a boxing match at that weight, then dropping those 25lbs (plus whatever had to be cut) and fighting again all within a short time period. Roy could have got hurt far worse than he did back then.
