Its 2014. Looking well put together and preppy is no longer stylish. In fact it hasn't been stylish for a while. Most young men ages 13-30 are into streetwear. In streetwear its comfort and functionality> looking "fly". nikkas don't give a fukk. You're supposed to look like your swag is effortless. Not like your mommy creased your pants and dressed you up for church.
Lets be real. Even the majority of these "fashion forward" dudes (fags) wear their pants low on their hips. Hell you can go look at a jean manufacturers website and the majority of the cuts will be described as "made to sit low on waist/hips".
