seen this on realgm .....
With Kevin Love being traded to Cavs it shows a clear intent by the League to have the number one market in the galaxy, Cleveland, Ohio, be in the top position to win. It's not fair to the smaller market teams in Los Angeles and New York which can never attract free agents.
THERE IS NO PARITY IN THIS LEAGUE. San Antonio, the number two market in the galaxy just "somehow" manages to win their FIFTH title and the New York Knicks haven't won since 1972? BS! From Stern to Silver, things are just getting worse and it's really not fair, and it seriously makes me cry that this happen....I'm crying right now typing this. My keyboard in drenched. I hate this. Want more proof? Look how many teams have won the title since 1980. No I don't how many teams have MADE the Finals since then. And I really don't care about how many teams have made it to the Conference Finals.
It's impossible for teams like Los Angeles to attract free agents. FACE FACTS, NO ONE WANTS TO PLAY IN A WARM WEATHER CITY. Players have come out and stated that they MUCH rather play in cold. Love, born in Santa Monica California and played college ball at UCLA HATES it. Obviously this is the League's fault for not correcting this.
How can anyone compete with the long, illustrious history of the Cleveland Cavaliers? How can anyone compete with their A-Class ownership and management? This ALONE attracts players to play there, not counting the wonderful cold weather, beautiful scenery, excellent nightlife, delicious food and loving culture. Not to mention the numerous opportunities in Clevewood for movies/television/commercials, Cleveway for musicals and plays, fashion and music in the every so wonderful East 99th and St. Clair district.
Did I mention that they have the best fans in all of sports in the entire galaxy? Everyone LOVES playing in front of a great fan base.
The League needs to do something, and do something NOW. I propose that the OWNERS LOCK OUT the players until this is done. All small market teams like Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Boston, Houston etc. NEED HELP, so I propose that they are allotted more cap space to attract players. Same thing goes for WARM WEATHER cities, teams with great traditions, etc. You name it, we'll find a reason to increase the cap space.
The biggest change however is that there MUST be a HARD CAP. There MUST be a franchise tag. And free agency? Psh, that's only going to last one week now. But the HARD CAP must be set at 30 MILLION at the ABSOLUTE highest given certain team's handicaps.
The biggest thing here is that not ONE franchise is to be held responsible for their lack of success, and how DARE you even think that, and really it just shows me you're not a fan of the game. I love this game. I've counted the individual dots on NBA REGULATION BASKETBALLS just to pass time. I love this game. YOU do not. Never again shall a team be held responsible for their "failures" in free agency, trading/acquiring of players, drafting, coaching hires or anything else. IT'S NOT THEIR FAULT. It's like a learning disability. Do you blame the kid for having it or correct the problem? Los Angeles being a warm city is NOT its fault!
If Silver wants this League to survive then this has to happen. If not, say goodbye to the NBA by 2020. You all killed that which I hold most dear.
