Like others said its REALLY hard to compete with Nintendo in this market. Even with their questionable hardware and policies. 
The market contracting and those memory card prices pretty much sealed the deal this gen. I just hope something changes in the next few years and Sony tries again because I'd rather another handheld from them than a VR headset.

I also looked at the number of exclusives. Xbox seems to be dominating
I'm looking at the number of 2015 titles that are not only exclusive, but look fun
Xbox dominating in that number as well.

i love my Vita
I love my vita. Play it every day. Ps plus has kept me so well fed with games for it i have a back log of like 25 games.
The Vita was always a lost cause. There's nothing outside of a niche market for a portable that provides a home console style experience on the go. Most adults when they're out and about they're actually doing stuff like work or school. The people who are on the go and have enough downtime to make it worthwhile having a dedicated portable device for gaming aren't large enough to justify the existence of such a device.
While I have a Vita I almost never take it out of the house and if I had the option to play all Vita games on a PS3 or PS4 I would sell the Vita that same day.

Bought this shyt for my kid, he dropped it once... screen dead. Cost new with 3 games $199, to fix screen $130.
Gave him my old tablet and he plays it more than he ever did the vita.

i think everyone is expecting too much on handheld systems,
i would rather purchase a AAA on a console rather than. a handheld system being that consoles are more advanced... the Vita with the PSN store and remote play feature is marvelous when im not asking for much from this system.. i see a few old school RPGs and classic PS1 and PS2 titles to keep me entertained
