There definitely isnt a need or much of a market for AAA games on handhelds but I think Sony went with it because those type of specs were the only way they could make the Vita and PS4 more intertwined(something Nintendo really needs to do imo). I also think they approached the handheld market like they did the console market and they're completely different.

Western publishers(the ones typically making AAA games) do not want anything to do with the handheld market and niche publishers like to keep costs down. So the Vita is kinda just out there by itself with no real market. It will still get games because there is an audience who wants those niche games and indies, but those games do not move hardware.

But with that being said I'm copping one of these on Black Friday if I can find one for $99.:youngsabo:
While I have a Vita I almost never take it out of the house and if I had the option to play all Vita games on a PS3 or PS4 I would sell the Vita that same day.
Most ppl don't unless they're taking public transportation or going somewhere that they will have significant downtime. There's really no need to when you can use a phone.
