you do realize you're
prepaying for consumer products in a free market economy right?
The value of the product you're prepaying for should be determined by it's quality, and thus, its sales. But you've conveniently decided to cut out that whole, messy "quality" part, and just give EA money up front. Because it seems like a good deal.
Why don't you go to your grocery store, tell the butcher you love steak, see if you can set up a system with him where you pay him 25$ a month to have access to fresh fillets. I mean, who doesn't like steak right? And if some bad cuts of meat come in, you can just cancel that plan at any time. And when he's the richest butcher in the city, and has shut down all the mom and pop butcher shops on the corner, you can just wait until he decides its time to give you fillet again, and reactivate your subscription.
Look man, I'm a republican too. But this is on some next-level, barcode on your neck type deal.
You don't need to pay EA a subscription fee.
Companies this large don't come out with business models like this because their analysts have forecast that it's going to be a great deal for the consumer. This isn't a "buy 10 coffees get the 11th one free" from your local coffee shop. They have calculated that a certain percentage of gamers only spends (let's say) 20$ on EA products a year, usually preowned. They're going to get them paying 60$ a year now. For some people (20% or less of their install base) this is going to be a good deal. For the others, they will lose money under the guise of saving money.
Other big publishers will take note.
You think these companies don't see that people are willing to pay 100$+ a month for their cell phone?
You think these companies aren't trying to come up with ways to get you to pay 100$+ a month to play video games?
Keep giving away your right to game though, and throw around the Jackie Chan smileys like your gonna get some daps and laughs.
Courtdogs probably in here turning this into a XBOX v PS4 thread too.
Same gang of idiots that don't understand how the real world works, arguing amongst themselves under the guise of a console war.
Sad thing is, when I started posting on

back in the day, video games were free to play, just had to buy your games and trade them with your friends.
Now I'm arguing with young kids talking about how they're honored to be able to cancel their EA subscription at any time, like they control the medium and the decisions they're making with their property.
So you cancel your subscription. OK. What happens to that game of madden you had downloaded and loved. Think youll still get to play it?
Moron.
