It isn't redundant hardware because it gives you access to stuff you don't have like day 1 Sony
Most people don’t care.

Even PS5 owners, the majority of sales of those exclusives come well after the release date.

You yourself have talked extensively about how it’s common and beneficial to wait to play games well
after release.

The day and date debate is just fanboy ammo.

Yall really think the success of PS5 hinges on a few games coming a few months before they come to PC???? :dahell:

It isn't redundant hardware because it gives you access to stuff you don't have like day 1 Sony (and some Rockstar) games and the games they don't port. Same with Nintendo.

I'm not saying people who have a PC and decide not to buy Sony hardware are doing some broke ass shit I'm saying the people who have PCs and sit back and pine about being able to play Sony games on a PC day 1 when they know it makes no logical sense for Sony to do it and refuse to buy the hardware that gives them access to what they want are doing some broke ass shit.

If something is your hobby and you want to enjoy a perk of it you either spend what it takes to get that or don't and deal with the world as it is.
first of all, this thread really isn't about anyone expecting Sony games to be on PC "day one" anytime soon. really it's more about people hoping Sony "slows down" their PC ports, which is also part or the rumors going around since Valve announced they're releasing a... PC. all these goofy takes really just come from people trying to put some controversial spin on shyt for clicks/engagement

I've been PC only (besides the Switch) since 2010, so I'm used to waiting for certain games. PC also gets some games first, and a bunch that never come to console, but no one wants to hear that

and the only reason it's not redundant hardware is because someone said "fukk you, pay me". true, people can choose how they want to spend their money on their hobbies, and my choice is to not feel like a mark

I hope Sony stops making games for PC because I don’t like these ungrateful gamers playing my exclusives on PC. Go play Path of Exiles dweeb.
Ironically this might force sony to either limit the amount of games that they port to the PC or double down and gain even more revenue from both PC and steam machine sales.

Wouldn’t mind seeing them apply pressure to sony, especially for the pc ports

Valve is releasing a PC! hide your exclusives! :damn:

  • Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said that although consoles are not going away, gaming is moving towards PCs.
  • Zelnick said that the gaming industry is shifting to more open systems rather than closed.

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick said on Monday that although gaming consoles are not going away, the industry is moving toward PCs in the next decade.

“I think it’s moving towards PC and business is moving towards open rather than closed,” Zelnick told CNBC’s “Squawk Box.” “But if you define console as the property, not the system, then the notion of a very rich game that you engage in for many hours that you play on a big screen — that’s never going away.”

Zelnick said the current split between console and mobile is about even in the market, but mobile is growing more rapidly than consoles.

Although gaming giants like Sony’s PlayStation and Nintendo have remained focused on traditional consoles to major success, rivals like Microsoft’s Xbox have hinted at more PC-based gaming for the next generation of hardware.

“It’s kind of funny that people think about the console and PC as two different things,” Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella recently said in an interview with TBPN. “We built the console because we wanted to build a better PC, which could then perform for gaming. I kind of want to revisit some of that conventional wisdom.”

Gaming company Valve garnered significant buzz last week after announcing its new Steam Machine, a console-PC hybrid that can run PC games on a television or as a normal gaming computer.

“Expanding access across PC, console, and handheld devices reflects a future built on choice, core values that have guided Xbox’s vision from the start,” Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer wrote in an X post congratulating Valve.
