"Pop" artists get help with their lyrics all the time.. They might be too busy or pre-occupied with other stuff to sit down and come up with ideas...
Or they might have ONE awesome tool like their voice, but not the creative talent to put words together..
The tricky thing about "hip hop" is the competitive angle that
used to be at the root of the culture.. It's still something that Drake and Kanye both traffic in on a small level.. They have been taking shots (subliminal and not so subliminal) at each other for years...
"I adopted these n1ggas, Phillip Drummond them"
"I'm never scared to get any Blood On My Leaves"
So they are presenting this notion that they are competing with each other for this #1 spot..
The silly part is now they are admitting to 'helping' their competitor write bars...Which is absurd to purists (which I'm not just explaining their position). Because it creates a scenario where Drake can actually purposely write wack sh1t for Ye to sabotage his momentum, then turn around and diss him for being wack (with words written by QM)
All reasonable adults should know that this is all just entertainment.. But this is some WWE type sh1t that seems too ridiculous for anyone that looks as hip hop as an even semi serious culture/art to accept..
