I'm rockin the 5S, and ever since the ios 8 upgrade, the fukking push notifications stopped working. anyways, I'm like :yeshrug: my phone is backed up, so I'll just do a clean restore and that should fix it.

well why does the phone decide once it's restored, that it can no longer see my sim card. I call sprint, they say :yeshrug:

call apple, they try to blame sprint. However, I already tried swapping in my wife's sim card in my phone and it don't work. and I put my sim card in her phone and it does work.

so obviously the problem is with the phone. anyways, I gotta take time out my morning to come to apple to have them look at this. and I'm sure it will be crowded since it's only been 3 days since the 6/6+ dropped.

Anyone else experienced this problem???

btw, I'm on the 4th phone cuz the first one fell in a glass of water. 2nd one, I shattered, then when I got it fixed, the speaker by your ear went to shyt. and then this 3rd one can't recognize the sim card.

I don't even have applecare, I can't help but wonder if this next phone will survive for another year til the next phone drops :sadcam:

Does is say anything about sim card activation?
If so it prolly is the carriers issue

How can it be the carrier's issue if my card works in my wife's phone. and her card doesn't work in my phone but works in hers also???

Here's the message I get when trying to set it up:

I use to do at home tech support for Apple and almost every sim card issue had to do with the carrier not activating the card right, or the carrier not unlocking the new phone for the sim card

This might not be that problem, cause it says sim card invalid, not sim card locked or phone not activated so IDK :manny:

Been a while since I did this so sorry if I'm making it more confusing

May have something to do with deactivating the old phone

Also if you didn't turn Find My Phone off on your old phone then there will be an activation lock

If you see 'No SIM' alert on iPhone

Symptoms
In some situations, the status bar on your iPhone might display No SIM, even though your iPhone has a SIM card. You might see an alert saying "Invalid SIM" or "No SIM Card installed."

Resolution
If you see any of the above symptoms on your iPhone, follow these steps:

  1. Update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS.
  2. Turn airplane mode on and then off again.
  3. Restart your iPhone.
  4. Check for a carrier settings update. Go to Settings > General > About. Install any available update.
  5. Remove the SIM card and make sure that it's a valid SIM that your carrier provided. Also make sure that it's not damaged, worn, or modified. Then reinsert it.
A SIM tray that comes with one iPhone model won't necessarily work with a different iPhone model. When you insert the correct SIM tray, the SIM tray should be flush with the device.
  6. If you have another SIM card, insert it. You can use a SIM card from any phone with the same format as youriPhone SIM card. If your iPhone works with that SIM card, contact the carrier that issued your original SIM card.
  7. Restore the iPhone.
If you still see the issue, contact Apple support.

Learn what to do if you see a SIM not Valid alert.

Get help activating your iPhone

Symptoms
Your iPhone might display one of these messages when you try to activate it:

  • "Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable."
  • "The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported"
  • "The iPhone is not recognized and cannot be activated for service."
  • "iTunes was unable to verify your device."
Resolution
Try these steps if you see one of the messages above:

  1. Check the system status for iOS Device Activation. If the iOS Device Activation status isn't green, try activating your iPhone later.
  2. Restart the iPhone.
  3. Try to reach the activation server another way, then try to activate.
    • Try connecting to a known-good Wi-Fi network if you can't activate using a cellular data connection.
    • Try connecting to iTunes if you can't activate using Wi-Fi.
  4. Restore the iPhone.
If you receive an alert message when you try to activate your iPhone, place the iPhone in recovery mode and perform a restore. If you still can't complete the setup assistant due to an activation error, contact Apple for assistance.

If you're asked to enter a password to proceed with activating the iPhone, Activation Lock might be enabled as part of Find my iPhone.

I dunno. the phone had worked fine. I have tried 3 different SIM cards in the sim tray and it can't see any of them, which makes me think the phone itself is :trash:

fukked up part, is I haven't had this particular phone for even a month yet.

Did you go to the carrier settings and see fi there was an update available?

What did Sprint say?

They bout to bounce you back n forth 100 times because none of the techs gonna know the proper steps to fix this even though they train them. :mjcry:

If you call Apple phone support, ask for a Tier 2 agent.

what do you mean by old phone? this is my current phone. I'll probably get it replaced today. this didn't start until I tried to restore it. and when you do a restore, it forces you to turn find my phone off anyways.

I have restored it 5 times already including restoring it to 7.1.2, and every time, I get this message. using wifi doesn't help which is why I am not bothering right now.

sprint basically tried to tell me to contact apple cuz they checked the sim card and it is activated.

apple acknowledged it's their issue when I told them about multiple restores and using multiple sim cards all with failure.

yea but your phones been replaced twice this year right?

Sprint gotta deactivate the old one and reactivate the new one every single time

And you gotta turn find my phone off on each phone yourself

Otherwise an anti theft feature called activation lock will show up when you try going through the setup process.

Meant to stop someone from restoring your phone if you lose it or get it stolen.

every time the phone was replaced, apple removed the old SIM and put it in the new phone. so it's not like I have a bunch of sim cards.

Yea but Sprint has to deactivate the old phone and activate the new one, you can't just swap the sim, or you're not supposed to be able to

but apple does that. I saw them going onto sprints activation server website at the apple store each time I got a new phone.
:manny: I was literally trained that if the restore doesn't work, and you still get sim card issues. It HAS to be the carrier. Maybe they lied to me I honestly don't know.

Mater of fact there is a script to read just for this situation.
