Ya ya we all know rich people scratch each others backs... This isn't news

College degrees are good for the snob factor but that's about it... As for actual knowledge... They are worthless.

Tell that to 90% of people who enjoy what they do for a living

:childplease:

So you would go to a doctor w/o a medical degree?

Get a lawyere w/o a law degree?

Have an engineer design your house's electrical + gas systems w/o an engineering degree?

I agree some degrees are a little overvalued, but at the end of the day a degree, like any certification, lends credence to whoever has it

Doctor is probably different. As for the rest, most of what they do is learned on the job... snob factor gets them in the door

Again... you need a RE contract looked over + signed... you gonna go to a dude w/no kind of degree or certifications to make sure the paperwork is all good?

Its a tough climate for those that didn't get degrees that are specifically slated toward professions with high salaries. A friend of mine has a bachelors in Physics, he went to MIT. Hes a school teacher right now (not by choice)

So now he's basically starting over and learning how to code (he figured his math background would help in this regard) and try to lock a job down before they come knockin' for them school loans.

sh)t happens :manny:

Tbh I only use an attorney when I legally have to (city zoning hearings)... that may change as I get into higher level deals but alot of what those guys do isnt that complicated... not worth the ridiculous fees

Not many deals are done with a Real Estate attorney, those contracts are pretty standard from NAR. A lot of real estate transactions are done without an attorney, you might need an attorney when you do more complicated deals or you need them to represent your interest in matters of real estate law like variances. But a standard real estate transaction will not involve an attorney.

But a formal education and learning theory is very important for anyone in the science field, though. You would never grow as an engineer, doctor or scientist without a solid foundation. I can't see how John John would compare these two very different areas.

At the end of the day you need that college degree to show you have the discipline to sit though school. Without it, you asking someone to take a chance on you, I live in the real world where you need more than a dollar and a dream. :smh: @ people who think you can't make your way into a career with damn near any degree.

At the end of the day you need that college degree

if you want me to pay you for a service that typically requires one

I brought up the gimme fields for degrees, but like you said, even for non-technical stuff a general degree does lend one credibility that someone who doesn't have one will have to do a lot more to earn

For better or worse

Jon jon seems like the kind of dude who thinks he can smooth talk his way to the top and lends everyone else the same credence... to that I say, good luck :biggapls:

Or the social aspect....

I know personally I wasn't well adjusted from gaining experience from people from different parts of the country yet college gave me a fairly safe way to be exposed to them. It was a great benefit for me personally, I think the social aspect of school is most valuable
