Soulless ghouls conquered the planet with technosorcery centuries ago.

They feed on destruction and bask in the suffering of others.

Their filth is choking the world. The water and the air are no longer non toxic.

Some comfort themselves with myths about a perfect life to be lived forever.. after their actual demise. Some stay intoxicated. Some binge on the plentiful food and entertainment that's made available by nonstop destruction. All trying to forget. All trying to deny.

Being totally sober and totally awake in this living nightmare is alarming. Facing the dread reality of it is unnerving to the point where it's hard to look calm.

Anyone visibly shaken, admittedly upset, or overly withdrawn is either tranquilized or sequestered. Anyone that speaks too loudly against the ravenous development is silenced.

Reads like a movie script. Or maybe it's what all those movies are about in the first place. Society leaving frantic diary entries on the eve of her demise. They will be a fascinating and terrifying message.. if anyone ever finds them.
