There is no parole in fed system, he does 85% of that time, unless there is an overturned verdict, appeal, or some form of downward departure, which I doubt, as it's not a drug/conspiracy case, he doesn't have info for the feds.

I assume it was DOJ prosectors under Obama that picked it up, further underscoring the difference in administrations, that may go unlooked sometimes.

i confirmed that, yes, Holder/Obama DOJ picked this up, and Slager was indicted in May 2016 on federal charges, including civil rights violations.

edit: would be Loretta Lynch, not Holder.

Forgive the "man" who murdered your son in a cowardly fashion and lied about it, queens...

At one point during the sentencing Scott's mother looked the former officer in the eye and told him she forgave him. Families on both sides of the court burst into tears.

It's called real piety. Not that fake Christianity when it's convenient. And forgiving a sinner doesn't mean forgetting or letting them off without punishment. It's about containing hatred and reserving final justice for God.

if only these "they're the same" and "super predator" knuckleheads could get this through their thick skulls. this case doesn't see the light of day under a trump a appointee. i agree there was a long way to go in creating an environment where police would be held more accountable for all their fukkery, but obama was building momentum. clinton would have done more to sustain that momentum towards real progress. now trump gets to hit the reset button all the way back to the 1950s. but let some tell it, "they're the same".

Yeah, it's truly a tragedy, not only the outcome, but the mindset of some people, is tragic. Like those who can't understand that politics and policy, and leaders go beyond memes, and talking points, "yeah it doesn't matter", but the family of Walter Scott will see their loved ones killer at least answer for what he did, while many this year, and to come will not.
