Posted about it several times before, but I'd love to have a more progressive candidate here in my southern state and I know plenty of other democrats who would too. But we're not even given the choice so voter turnout seems to suffers..

I'm always curious about what options y'all have on the activism front. Like I've hated most of my options in NJ and NY for the majority of my life, but there's protests and activist gathering options all over. In conservative areas I assume that sorta stuff is much harder to pull off but I've never heard heads talk about what the options are that they have or how challenging the organizing process is.

but thats what im saying :skip:

the OVERALL cost is less, but the government is paying more money towards it. is that statement wrong?
Not to be forgotten though is that Millions of ppl would now have health coverage that currently don't have it.
Small businesses would benefit from not having to pay huge medical insurance policies for employees, the country would become healthier because ppl wouldn't be avoiding the doctor anymore. less work hours lost everyday for every company.

So many benefits to it all, the Government wouldn't even lose money, it would just be made up in other ways. (more taxes to begin with).

Y'all should run. :ehh:
I've thought about something local but not yet, I'm in flux at the moment in my life. Once I find exactly where I want to settle down for good I've given thoughts of doing something local. I'm not mentally built for anything bigger though lol. I'm honest about my capabilities :mjlol:. I don't deal with stress well as it is :francis:. I've thought about state congress at the most. We have literal idiots in our state government so I feel I can better compete there.

Fair enough.that's real shyt. It's something I've thought about locally especially after my local rep voted for the RNC here and was th swing vote.

I'm not sure if I will atthis point, but it's led me to being more active and meeting a lot of other similar minded folks, some who are interested in running themselves, looking to support a candidate that's going to do exactly what they say and be held accountable.

much of the Dem Party is stuck in 1992 in how to win, the populace is genuinely more liberal leaning than it was, but the party does such a comical job getting them out to actually vote.

It's more complicated than that.

It’s chicken or the egg

Republican and centrists are reliable voters so Dems run to them but then they alienate progressives.

great analysis
It is. A lot of people don't vote despite the candidate.

For example, Sanders was easily defeated in the Primary even with a populist message. Higher voter turnout would have increased his chances.

Voter suppression
gerrymandering
voter id laws

I can go on but you know all of this and still wrote what you did amirite?
the party still ran poorly and often struggled to attract energy and was far too reliant on "moderate" voters they gained some ground with the popularity of Obama among much of the Dem leaning electorate, this was my personal experience in observing the local State branch here in GA (though it is still loads better than much of the rest of the Deep South I will concede) I'm fully aware of GOP attempts to marginalize already marginalized voter blocks, multiple things can be true at once.
