Just thinking of some loose parallels here:
•Charlotte is clearly the largest, most alpha city in Carolina, akin to Houston in Tejas, even though many people prefer other cities in those states to Charlotte and Houston...
The most legitimate "big city" vibe you can find in either place is via Charlotte or Houston...
•Raleigh-Durham is like a miniature Dallas-Fort Worth. Just the general layout and infrastructure of the two regions, Raleigh being in the more Dallas role, Durham as Fort Worth, Cary as the Arlington of The Triangle...
•Charleston is the fun, weird, eclectic, fan favorite city for white people in Carolina, alike Austin...
I think there are other loose parallels to be drawn, but ultimately we all know both states are their own thing. I do think the Triangle/Metroplex comp is a highly interesting one...
