I think there is a difference between essential tasks that should be completed by members of the house hold and things that are better off out sourced.
For example. My grandmother could knit a blanket and sow a sweater so the house hold could save some money. I don't expect my wife,
an educated pro trained in something completely unrelated, to able to sow like that. Especially since we can just go buy a blanket.
However we need to eat everyday and we most likely will not have a family chef on deck. So she needs to be able to cook.
Likewise if your husband is a lawyer do you really want him trying to fix your toilets?
