no violence, they need to internalize guilt

violence teaches kids not to do bad things because it hurts them, guilt teaches them not to do bad things because it hurts others

Well I was probably boarderlined abused, and I'm sure my mom was beating me more cuz she was upset which I think is counter productive.

But taking away privileges as well as giving them tasks to do that they absolutely hate, like at home research assignments with reports or manual labor at you or your relatives house could be options as well.

I dig it, and completely agree. but then one must ask can you make someone anything? You can't make em do research or manual labor. Especially if they are rebellious or disobedient. One of my friends was punished by sports tasks.... pops would drag him out of bed at 5am and take him running miles with him, otherwise he would be kicked out. But its still the same kinda. I think kicking them out is worse than a beating... in the event that they refuse to cooperate with said punishment

I think if its to the point where your kids are specifically telling you they not going to do something you prolly already lost them. Discipline needs to start early, not when they are older.

I tried that with my father one time when he asked me to rake the leaves, I told him no, he beat me then made me go do it :mjlol:

Children need to be disciplined. Period. There's a gulf of a difference between a spanking and child abuse, however.
/ thread.

I got ass whooping as a kid and you know what. I thank my pops for whooping my ass as a kid. I believe that discipline kept me on the straight and narrow. Society is just pussified now. I bet Dylan Roof didn't get enough ass whoopings:francis:

I used to get ass whoopings all the time...then groundings, getting shyt taken away etc....

Didn't help me to learn anything...

But I did turn out okay (somewhat), however I learned NOTHING from my parents...

So I guess it depends on the child. Though I don't have any, I really don't think there's a one solution to every child's behavior, including whoopings....

I was whipped as a child therefore my children will feel those same lashes that my parents laid down upon me :ohlawd:

I don't believe whoopings do much.
Just about every kid I know who got whoopings including myself just hid whatever bad shyt we were doing better and either matured naturally or did bad shyt and are now in jail or fukk ups.
Studies show it doesn't do anything or much at all as well.
I think a lot of people correlate how they are now with whoopings because it's an easy jump rather than the truth.

Most people don't understand something is wrong until they experience pain.

You can't reason with some grown fully capable thinking adults and you think your going to reason with some Kids? :mjlol:

I've seen pain change the out look on one of the most stubborn hard head person I've EVER met life.

Its a case by case, a spanking aint always needed and being punished aint always needed.

Make use of both.

Beating a child with whips and rods came from slavery. ..i dont wanna argue tho

when white people got to africa, they saw black people whipping their little ones. they were aghast. so when they enslaved blacks, they got themselves to believe that "if these people can beat their own offspring, they must not feel pain like we do"...which led to the brutality of slavery and the justification for it.

so no, ass whooping did not come from slavery nor was it a black thing. its just a cultural thing.

It depends on what they did

Some things shouldn't result in physical punishment because it's not helping them understand what is wrong, just making them not do it out of fear of being whipped

But if it's some stupid everyday shyt then it might be alright, I don't like using physical punishment much though
