Watched both episodes last night. They immediately do a good job in setting up the alternate story and stakes for the seasons 
It may have been years since the OG show ended, but they aren't afraid to bring back the sex or violence , including one death that was
Even with Ashur being a scumbag in the series, he still has to contend with the Romans who look down on him and you have some of the Gladiators to root for.
