The Passage of Time
The only thing I dispute with Spice is, "real and broke vs fake and rich". I would rather be fake and rich. And, no young people you don't come out and say you're the best ever, you acknowledge those who paved the way and pay homage. Migos at this point are a flash in the pan.

But doesnt every group that comes out say they are the best of all times, tho? :yeshrug: I thought the rule of thumb of American street/music culture was:
  1. When you reach the top for your 15 secs of fame you proclaim yourself the greatest of all time
  2. When you die abruptly your fans proclaim yourself the greatest of all time
So why is he so mad? THo i agree with the gay looking shyts cats be wearing these days tho but wait a few years and some new rap crew will be claiming to be the goat too

Not that I've seen. IMO this "best ever" sentiment is more recent starting with Lil' Wayne which I think was an off-shoot of artists claiming to be the best in their respective regions or hometown ie TI king of the south, Big, Jay, Nas king of New York or 50 cent saying he runs New York. I listened to Bone Thugs heavily as a teen and I don't remember them ever claiming to be the best rap group ever even in their prime. They talked about beefs they with Crucial Conflict saying they were biting their style but that was about it. I've always observed a healthy respect from most artists for those that came before them particularly artists during the 90's.

It really started with LL in the mid 90s when he said he was the greatest of all time. He literally came up with the term goat

You are right he did come up with the term G.O.A.T. but again it didn't really take off until some of the super successful artists I named earlier started calling themselves the king of their respective regions.
