And Eddie Murphy would be perfect for the role. You don't really understand acting if you have a problem with Eddie doing this role. Him taking on this serious role would give him the credibility you don't want to give him
Eddie is a way better and much more accomplished actor than say, Jamie Foxx
Before the Ray movie, most people would of sounded like you. They did.
Now that he did that, you wouldn't question any role he gets. Eddie would do the same thing.
Marlon Wayans would do a crucial Richard Pryor, other want Mike Epps to do it. Mike Epps is 10x funnier than marlon wayans from a standup position. But as an actor, Marlon all day. Him being serious would add to the affect, it would draw the viewer in more.

Nobody praises Tyler Perry as a director or film maker. Tyler Perry gets praised for consistently giving black actors work and being a shrewd businessman.
And the guy they hired to direct the James Brown Biopic isn't even remotely a better director than Spike Lee.

Spike probably wanted to focus more on the music and the impact he had on the black community, the white do probably wanted to focus on the drugs, women, beating Tammi Terrell and mugshot, basically all the negative shyt. Kinda like how they done the Ray Charles movie, 95% of the movie made him look like a womanizing, drugged out a$$hole, and he only found redemption in the last 7 minutes of the movie.
from the spike lee work's i've seen, i am definitely a fan but he's seemingly an a$$hole sometimes. kinda like rob zombie, feel me? i'm sure eddie will do great in this role but i can't help but laugh at the idea of him seriously portraying one of his best comedic impressions.

At the END of his life, James Brown appeared to be messed up at times. But the reality is you personally wouldn't follow James Brown. So the only times you would see him is when he got into trouble. Which if you didn't know is the only time and only way they like to promote any black people. So Spike is an a$$hole, So is Wesley Snipes, So is Barry Bonds, So is Chris Brown, So was Trayvon Martin.
