I don't think alot of people get what Spike Lee is saying
He's saying, black people still believe in this Utopian society where "Racism is in the past". And tell their kids that since Obama's in office, race shouldn't matter as much
But he's explaining that they can't even give a good Black movie an Oscar, that racism is so deep that white people wouldn't even vote for a Black movie at an outdated movie award show
He's basically telling the Black community, Time's haven't changed, and they never will

Just because a movie doesnt win an award doesn't mean it wasn't good. Seems like he's allowing an award system created and maintained by white people to validate the movie. We don't need their validation.
Slavery and the results of the African Holocaust should not be reenacted by anyone and especially with cacs and negroes making money and getting "ACTING" awards off of depictions of it....

The focus should be to create an alternative for black films, instead of begging for validation from an industry that has shown many times they aren't interested in giving black films, actors, producers, etc a fair shake.
I wonder how many of these people upset at the Selma snub have even seen the movie. The film was a flop commercially, making something like 15million in the first week and I doubt it will fare any better in the second week or even abroad.
I disagree. Our story needs to be told and there are, unfortunately, millions of people who don't read.
That's why the story needs to be TOLD and get to READING.....we don't need to reenact our own brutality, for trinkets or awards from the very people that did it and still is doing it........
Awards are far less important than reaching people who wouldn't otherwise hear our story. We're just not going to agree.
