Well, the best players in the draft are either points or guards/wingmen... If they get a top 3 pick, it'd be a reach to pick a big (the best one is Isaac? )

Why would he do that they are literally maybe a season or two away EVERYBODY in the east is waiting for the Lebron decline or injury. He is being a smart GM by waiting even if they had butler they still aren't beating the cavs probably and def not beating the warriors. You have to wait it out don't overpay and move talent in a rush to be "relevant' which they already are regardless of who they draft its going to be a 19 yr old kid none of them are ready to take them to and win the finals. IMO

they will most likely draft a guard as they are simply the best in the draft this year

and they got a win now team, they got bigger chances for eastern finals than wizards. A conference finals, not matter how shytty the east is, is something that only win now teams happen to go to. So is he blowing up the team to develop his rookies? He cant play win now ball and expect rookies to play good amount of minutes, the game is 48 minutes long, not 60

If Ainge doesn't feel he can win within the next 1-2 years and doesn't get Hayward, he has to blow it up. IT; Bradley, Crowder, Smart are all FA's in 2018 or 2019, IT's prime has 2-3 years left, and it's unlikely for that rookie to be great until year 3 or 4 of his contract. To simplify it, the timeline of Boston's picks don't line up with the prime of IT/Horford, while they'll soon be capped out after next season.

I'll play devil's advocate, Isaiah Thomas is eligible for the dpe, Boston has to make an immediate decision on if he's worth that and choose between smart and bradlwy. crowder new contract is coming up as well. ainge hasn't exactly done good with his drafts picks will he miss on this? probably not but he has some franchise decisions to make starting with it

Ainge doesn't have to blow anything up. He's got the C's in position to have their cake and eat it too. Two of Bradley/Smart/Rozier likely got to go to free up minutes for who they draft. They could package any combination of AB/Smart/Rozier for a big or a pick (I'd keep Rozier because AB is injury prone and Smart is not good offensively), sign Hayward, and have plenty of playing time for a guard. Gives you a better team right now with more upside for the future.

You get the number 1 pick in the Draft and you could have this lineup next year:
IT/Rozier
Fultz/Brown
Hayward/Crowder
Horford/Yabusele
Zizic/Back up big

Let Olynyk, Jerebko, Amir, and Green walk. Don't really want any of those nikkas back. Tell me that's not a cold lineup. That's a better and younger squad than the current one and could easily take over the East when Bron declines.
