I think there is some confusion, different opinions about what a "nerd" is. I believe some on here are equating nerd with anyone who has trouble getting women. Kent = nerd, TFL = nerd, 5'9 and under = nerd.

A lot of people associate intelligence with being a nerd. In the video for the original OP he said dude sounded "white" came from a good background, educated etc... people in the thread jumped to nerd. So nerd = intelligent from a good home?

Google defines it as:

• a foolish or contemptible person who lacks social skills or is boringly studious.

• a single-minded expert in a particular technical field.

Meridian-Webster defines it as:

• an unstylish, unattractive, or socially inept person; especially

• one slavishly devoted to intellectual or academic pursuits <computer nerds>

What's your definition?

Bonus: Based on the first definition of both sources, wouldn't it be understandable that anyone with those characteristics have trouble with dating?

women either find you facially attractive or they don't. there's usually no in between like men. you think a famous heartthrob R&B singer lookalike who majored in quantum physics is having problem pulling women? yea you might not be pulling Instangram 10's and such, but to say no woman in your vicinity is interested in you? you have to either be terrible awkward socially or just deformed beyond repair.

The term nerd to me refers to academics, but I guess to others it means having interests in comic books, games, and possibly social awkwardness.

Alot of people associate the word "nerd" with intelligence because that's what the media always taught us.

Anybody who grew up watching Family Matters and Saved By the Bell knows this. Urkel & Screech were highly intelligent "nerds". Even Donatello from the ninja turtles was the nerdy one because he was the smart one. awkwardness, quietness, shyness and timid around the ladies are other stereotypes along with high intelligence to round out the "nerd". The way one dresses plays a huge part also, or use to. Glasses are no longer considered "nerdy" like they used to. Rappers wear them now.

As long as you are extremely skilled in a particular field, you're a nerd. You can definitely be a basketball nerd, because you know so much about basketball. I know a lot of MMA nerds.
