Yesterday I made dijon mustard crusted pork chops (brined the day before), coconut brown sugar rice and mini apple pie bites, all from scratch. I only have one oven.

Fantasy.
Im gonna cut meat out of my diet for a couple of months so cooking will def be faster for me now. I just like my food to taste a certain way(good) and whenever i eat out except for a couple places i always feel like i wasted my money. Plus most of the stuff i order when i go out is food i can make myself lol, i dont like trying new things at restaurants cause ill be mad if its gross.

It's time consuming depending on what you cook. Especially if it's all from scratch. Yesterday I made gumbo so the roux itself seemed to take an hour or so. I don't cook everyday maybe 4 to 5 times. I want to make it to 5 to 7 times and make my lunches all the time.

It's expensive too. I spend so much money on food :why:

I'm agreeing with this more, I used to think people who acted too good to eat out or like fast food was gross were just "stuck up"

But cooking and eating my own food has def changed my taste buds. Even the cheese on fastfood burgers seems gross and cheap now :mjlol:

Nope, I usually throw some stuff in my crock pit that I can eat on for a week. I've made pork pot roast and chicken and dumpling so far. Last night I did make a pot of chili.

I don't cook everyday, but I do cook a lot. I actually cook meals pretty quick. I have a culinary degree, so getting healthy quality meals is pretty easy for me. Most of the time I can cook up a meal faster then I can get at a restaurant. I worked in plenty of restaurants and know lots of short cuts to getting a good meal done in a quick amount of time.

Going to culinary school next year. Any advice for a breh. :lupe:

Breakfast and lunch everyday, but dinner? Absolutley not, that's too much. Breakfast and lunch are usually quick and easy. I think it's best to make dinner on Sunday, and try to make enough to last the whole week. If you do that, then you'll only end up cooking dinner 1-3 times per week.

Cook simple. Don't go over complicating things. The one thing everybody thinks they need to do is add extra ingredients. It's all about the technique and enhancing the quality of the food you are using. Plus follow the recipe the way they show you. Then once you have the technique down add your own flavors or flair. Just be humble and open to learning.

And the most important thing is get them knife skills down. You'd be surprised how important having them knife skills down really is. I've worked high end restaurants where my knife skills are what set me apart and have people wanting you back. Learn to keep that knife sharp.

Do you?

I started doing this a few weeks ago. I made a comittment that anything I would eat would be made by my hands....

I thought it might level up my life :takedat:

Instead, I spent 4 hours cooking yesterday alone :damn: is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? Do people who cook all their own food spend like 25% of their lives cooking?????? :damn: what a commitment

The hell you makin?

I pretty much eat the same thing everyday....Chicken rice and a veggie. I cook a few times a week because I make enough chicken to last a few days, so the only thing I make daily is rice and veggies.

I was making pasta quite frequently a few months ago but I started gaining too much weight and stopped :to:
