I got tats all over my body, sleeves, torso, all that.

But I would NEVER get any on my face, neck or hands.

If I can't cover it up with a nice button up then I can't wear it.
Sometimes you just got dress up and act like a professional. That shyt just screams unprofessional, or immature.

I have two hand tats. One is on my ring finger. My husband and I got each other's names tatted the night before we got married. Didn't think about the pain of putting rings on over them the next day. The other is fleur de lis between my thumb and index. :yeshrug: I'm decent enough.

Most nikkas with hand-tattoos are broke.
Correlation =/= causation so that is not the reason why.
A broke nikka mentality is that "hand tattoos are cool, I want some, who gives a shyt about employment prospects."
Or they'll see Idris Elba w/ hand tattoos and think "if he's successful, I'll be successful."
Idris was working in a factory before he jumped into one of the few fields that doesn't obsess over hand tattoos. He would've been screwed in corporate.

I like tats. I have several.
But
I'm a black person first so I see things through that lens.

Hand tats, neck tats, facial tats make it that much harder for a bm or bw to secure and succeed in employment. Can be an extra point the police use to profile you.
Should it be that way? fukk no. But it is.

I'm all for tats but I would always counsel any person considering one

1. Pick carefully. Ftmp they are permanent. That weed leaf you thought was so cool when you were in Hs isn't gonna seem nearly as cool to you when your kids are in hs, I promise.

2. Get them someplace where they can be covered up if necessary.
It's not that hard.

Breh do what you do. I absolutely wish you the utmost success no matter what Avenue you take to get there.
(As long as it don't hurt other black folks)
My advice is general advice for young black folks in America. My advice is always coming from a good place. Read it and know the spirit in which it is intended, take what you need and leave the rest.

You are right...I had a manager that refused to hire people with tattoos. She had a secret way of doing it and she was black too. As black people we have to be on top and make no mistakes in the job force. Asadly there are black people who discrimante against other black people inbthe workforce. We always have people trying to screw us over at work.
I'm considering getting a tattoo after graduation from my Junior college , but I'm considering where to get it.

Some thing you'd associate with needles ans dirty looking low life druggie rappers..not a good look.
I can't take you seriously if you have one..

I have zero tats... but always wanted full sleeves, hands, chest, belly and neck.

Just always told myself, I will get one when Im in peak shape, cuz whats the point if not shirtless.

If I ever do get hardbody, in gym, I will as a reward.

Ive got a good amount of tats (multiple tats on right arm, cultural tribal from my left wrist to the back of my left ear).

I run my own operation and IMO, there is nothing wrong with tats as long as they can be covered up in a professional environment. I don't think its a good idea to get tats on your hands, face, or neck. If you were part of a professional sales meeting, deals are made based off of your product, likability, and trust. There are a lot of older corporate heads who will judge you by the first impression of your looks (sucks ass...but it is, what it is). Hand tats stand out even more when your wearing a button up shirt to cover up your full sleeve tattoos.

There are a lot of professionals who have tattoos (doctors, lawyers, etc..). You just have to have common sense when it comes to being professional.
