Things have been worse than they currently are in the racial/culture front and it didn't devolve to these scenarios, why would it now?
Other countries have more than two political parties but America can't have more than two because of uh . . .Tell me what I don't understand?
No not in my lifetime but yes a few times in American history. In your lifetime?
I think there's a growing sense of anger on both sides and congress has failed us the last 18 years.
It was said in jest btw

That genocide or Balkanization is next. Look back.So your point is what again?
lol
It's not like the US always existed. I personally don't see it or want it broken up however.
this... plus an end to the winner takes all system... i think a lot of people feel they are not represented in a winner takes all system... consider a state is 55% conservative but 45% liberal... if a conservative wins, they will implement strict conservative policies that will upset 45% of the population... if a liberal is able to thread the needle and win, he will implement strict liberal policies that will agitate 55% of the population... what if a state that is 55% conservative had policies that reflected it being 55% conservative instead of policies that reflected a 100% conservative view... what about if the 45% of liberals felt they were heard as well... most people would feel heard in such a system.... in today's system, it's either our way or the highway....I think a four party system would work.
Right wing
Moderate right
Moderate left
Light wing party
Gives people more options
What if not voting was against the law and beared heavy fines like they do in Australia?none of the structural changes will matter if we have the same populace.
The #1 factor for change is for the people who care to be willing to sacrifice their own personal economic security to challenge the system.
Until they do that, the status quo will remain and nothing will change.
