Professor X bent over backwards to prove that he was "one of the good ones".
He wanted mutants to be non-threatening instead of embracing their rightful place at the top of the genetic food chain.
Even MLK became disillusioned and angry at the end of his life.

After the humans buss all of their missiles at the mujtants

because killing all those men would put boots to the necks of all mutants. despite the powers and threats from celestials, mutants pretty much get wiped out in the end

You mean if they bodied those ships the humans would spend the next 80 years developing technology to kill mutants or repress their powers?
As opposed to what they did do?
Just as Magneto predicted the humans betrayed them instantly
he had access to the technology or mutants with healing powers that could have given him legs again. He wanted to appear docile in that wheelchair for humans. 
He also shytted on his followers

mr homo superior wasnt gonna live peacefully. theres no timeline where he does. and he and his brotherhood are partially responsible for the downfall of mutants

If Xavier hadn't switched sides and fell in line behind Magneto the humans would've had no choice but to let them have their spot
that would have never happened. the world would be consumed in all out war before human bow to mutants

Humans generally aren't that brave. They would bow down to mutants when they realize they are outpowered

So the mutants were just supposed to resign themselves to their fate of extermination that we saw in Logan
Matter fact what if I told you there was a time when black people were enslaved by white people and only consuming the entire country with total war and burning to the sea would end this situation before the slave owners would recognize the right of blacks to freedom?
