Tim Duncan because he plays well with his teammates. Kobe is selfish and needs the ball to be effective.

And :pacspit: at you idiots who keep saying Parker and Manu made Duncans career when they were late round picks who took years to develop into good players. Last time I checked Kobe played with Shaq a top 10 players of all time, Eddie Jones, Robert Horry and Pau Gasol

We may never know, but we know what Kobe was without Shaq and a prime Gasol.

Yeah, 1 ring better. Actually has defended his titles successfully, etc.

Anyway, these are the best two players of this era so lets look at this objectively.

tim:

GOAT PF of this basketball shyt
Lowkey, unselfish, very easy to work with
Big > Small. 9/10 times.

Kobe:
Top 2 at his position all time
Decorated member of GOAT franchise, arguably its greatest guard
A level of dominance which saw him outscore teams and put up numbers that hadn't been seen since Wilt played.

Real shyt, you give me prime Kobe and a championship caliber squad around him and I see 3 straight titles. I'm pretty sure tim ain't repeating in that same position...:patrice:

Yeah, with Robinson and during a shortened season against an 8th seeded Knicks.

But back on topic.

I'll take Kobe still.

People say you can get another scorer. A TMac or Vince but can you get another Kobe? :manny:

Sign me a Kris Humphries to fill that PF spot :skip:

Kobe

Kobe is a better offensive player by a wide margin and Duncan is a better defensive player by a wide margin.

To me, what it comes down to is i value prime Kobe's big advantages as a Scorer,Shooter,Playmaker, and closer over prime Duncan's Big advantage as a defensive anchor and rebounder particularly in the playoffs where individual offense has more impact then Individual Defense

tell me about all those titles the 7 seconds or less suns with that individual offense.

Now tell me about the success great defensive teams such as the bulls, celtics, rockets, spurs had in the finals

As much of a Kobe fan as I am I would have to take Duncan. Mainly for the same reasons I pick Olajuwan over Jordan in the other thread. Way easier to build around a big. Players love playing with Duncan which isn't always true with Kobe. He can anchor both your offense and defense. And it is much easier IMO to develop other players around Duncan compared to Kobe since Duncan is a lot more willing to play the background role at times.

But I do love Gator for pointing out if I'm an owner that I'd prefer Kobe.

Also I really would have loved to see Kobe fresh out of high school be a featured player to see how he would've looked. Lakers always said even back then that he could be a 20 PPG player but they purposely held him back due to keeping his ego in check.

Im going with Duncan and im not even thinking twice. You know that it's easier to build around a big man than it is a shooting guard. With Tim you wouldn't have any on court or off court drama to worry about. You wouldn't have to worry about him and teammates not getting along and him not being a great leader. Tim was ready from day 1 and would have dominated on any team. Put Kobe on the Hornets or the Nets and I don't know if he becomes the player he ended up becoming. Having Magic Jerry West and Phil Jackson around him helped him more than people think.
