LI isn't an hour away from NYC, its right next to Queens, you can literally walk into LI from Queens. Queens, BK and LI are on the same piece of land

Technically, Brooklyn and Queens are part of Long Island, but people here love to simplify certain things too much. Like when people just say "the city" for Manhattan.

You can walk to Nassau from almost everywhere in Queens, not just the black parts.

Northern Blvd, Union Turnpike, Hillside Avenue, etc. Queens has more roads that go into Nassau than go into Brooklyn.

As a person who's lived in 3 different spots of L.I (Hollis/East NY & Valley Stream) plus worked in Central Islip between 2001-2010. I think I can speak on terms of what I feel where the true suburbs begin.

Hempstead the only one that feels city like. I’m familiar. Valley Stream I have lots of family there feels truly suburban
