My wife makes more than me, and even though we're both in the six figure range, we keep seperate accounts. :yeshrug:

This.

Why wouldnt a couple decide on this outcome before even getting married in the first place?

Isn't marriage a partnership?

Men and women are equal, right?
Yes a partnership but you are suggesting makes it look like two individuals living separate lives. What i earn is just as much my husbands as his. We are a unit.

Golden rule is both wife and husband should contribute 80 percent of their income to the household in a shared account, 20 percent of your income is for personal shyt. So if a man made 60 in a year and bus wife made 40gs, the husband should put away 48gs for his family and the wife should put away 32gs for the household. The man would have 12gs for personal shyt and the wife would have 8gs. Sounds fair.
Ya...i was about to say.

Sound like no kids in your marriage?

How will kids affect your arrangement?

No kids.

No plans to have any either

Until you go to the bank and find out your your wife took out all the money and then hits you with those divorce papers. This JUST happened to a coworker of mine. :mjlol:

You've got to be a fukking idiot to put YOUR money in an account where someone else who didnt work for it has access to it.

Sounds like you dont trust the person you married. Plus you can set up something that ensures that both person need to give their approval before money is taking out. You shouldnt be making financial décision without your partner anyway.

I don't like your arrangement...sounds like roommatws living in one house.

I agree. That's how it should be.

But, you'd be surprised. There are people who don't think that way.

One thing I argue for is whatever you brought to the table in terms of assets is not to be shared unless otherwise agreed upon.

If I come to the table with $10 million in savings, only I'm touching that. We can share whatever I make after the marriage starts.

In this country your power is in your pocket. Why would I give my power over to someone who runs off emotions and is wired to be fickle?

$60,000 lesson for my coworker, off some shyt that should be common sense. :smh:

Somewhere tropic...
Joint bank account to pay the bills and misc house stuff + individual bank accounts
There should be some autonomy in the relationship but room to correct bad spending habits as well.
That's your wife, she's your responsibility. Don't believe me, ask the judge :sas1:
