I admired the flip bit I thought the album would be some bullshyt.

Was actually pretty great and highly underrated. shyt ain't even on streaming:francis:

Brought the album when it dropped. Proud to say I still have the OG CD.

Really underrated album. The intro is straight heat rocks and the You Gonna Love Me remix with Nas and Slim Thug is FIRE

The year 3030
Perfect example. Em’s best album IMO.

Can’t say I was super worried though. The gimmicky first single was his signature.
same thoughts...em show was his peak.

and it being gimmicky was my worry...cause while MM/SSLP were solid albums, it had it fair share of eh... tracks

but he hit it out the park with Em Show...only questionable track for me is drips

Drips was ok but I thought Obie Trice outshined Em on that one.

Busta Rhymes' Anarchy album was dope, but this single was :wtf:

I know sampling Broadway songs was a little trend back then but yikes

Lots of posts/threads about the opposite (Fab-Breathe, Jada-Why). What about the opposite?

You heard the first single and either were skeptical or it didn’t quite signal how much you’d end up enjoying the album:

All of these were the perfect singles for those particular albums. You can argue Change Clothes was corny, but it fit the theme of the Black Album

Nas is notorious for dropping extra weak singles on dope projects. He always skips the smash hits ever since that Aaliyah joint. He shots airballs.

Stillmatic - 'Got yourself' was trash and 'One Mic' is not a good record we can be honest.

Gods Son - He did well with the two singles on this project.

Hiphop is Dead - He should have released 'Hold down the block' and the Snoop joint.

Streets Disciple - Was the penultimate weak singles I think He might or Kelis might have sabotaged that joint.

He only ever releases 2 joints per LP and yeah since 'I am' He has been bugging with the singles!! :bryan:

:ufdup:I should neg you

Stillmatic went 2xplatinum it was not because of 'Get yourself' or 'One Mic'

I still remember Nas's MTV VMA 'One Mic' performance. It was not jiggy all that yelling and theatrics it wasn't the organic natural Nas who is a laid back and smooth Rapper/person.

I skip 'One Mic' I'm sorry :russ:
