Ecw had technical wrestlers like the ones mentioned in the thread, but they wasn't showcased. There's a difference. It was never one of the main attraction for the company like wcw and their cruiserweight wrestling for instance. That's why when people bring up ecw they'll mention new jack and sandman because they were showcased as main attractions.

Kurt angle wouldn't fit as well in wcw because he needed a place to grow. Too many guys in that mid card scene to get decent time to improve.

No doubt, but a lot of those guys weren't main attractions to the product. I ain't saying that they didn't give technical wrestlers a platform, but I am saying that they weren't exactly one of the main attractions of the product.

yea they were main attractions. like evey other week on average, the main event would be between technical wrestlers or at least feature one.

by main attraction, do you mean the world title picture? they were more likely to put the belt on people like the sandman because they knew they weren't going anywhere anytime soon. that's common practice.

and even then, there were still technical wrestlers in the main event scene. shane douglas, tazz, ravren & terry funk had technical backgrounds, etc.

raven came in the game as a technical wrestler breh.

for those of us that were legit ecw fans, the technical wrestling was always just as much of a draw as the hardcore stuff. there used to be episodes centered around the guererro/malenko matches and such. the original triple threat douglas/benoit/malenko used to run chit. the luchadore movement, etc etc.

only thing ecw didnt do was put them in the world title chase(aside from blackballed guys like shane douglas) because they knew they had one foot out the door. but if you were a regular viewer, you knew their worth.

the eliminators were the best tag team in America. nobody even mentions them anymore.
