i gotta get something on the front page since this was my idea lmao.

hiphop is a culture. rap is a style of music.

the elements of the culture are rapping, DJing, beatboxing, and dancing.

another producers catalogue y'all should know

Larry Smith

just looked dude up and i'm already learning new shyt. produced for whodini? whaaaaa?

also...this is word of mouth, i gotta look into it. but since rick is the initial inspiration i'll bring this up. didn't rubin hold a funeral for the word 'def' because it got so played out? i believe the reasoning was something along the lines of it became a household/mainstream slang term and at that point it's no longer hiphop.

a motion for nikkas to pontificate on the genre/culture and what it really is.

the following is 'fact':

hiphop is dead. it has been dead for along time.

i guess what i should say is that hiphop was a fad that came and went and has been being imitated for what...? 3 decades now? it is also the most unique style of music because of the fact that it only exists because of other styles of music. this tradition carries on even today. embrace and cherish this fact. it starts out with a break from 'another bites the dust' and now artists continue to draw inspiration of pieces of older soulful pieces as well as contemporary EDM music and 90s rock. hiphop evolves because that is the nature of ALL genres. while i said before that it is dead, the fact is that is CANNOT ever die unless people deliberately and calculatingly eradicate the producers. that is impossible because if they can't make hiphop, they will just make punk. it's one part taking what is already there, and another part saying fukk that and fukking it all up.

i personally feel that if you deny this as a fact about this culture/music, you are not only lost but deserve to be smacked. i want to prevent that, hence my contribution to the thread. you cannot participate in advancing this phoenix-type culture (referring to it's power as far as influence and it's cycle of change) unless you look back.

fukk that.

reach back.

this is a way of life. seek counsel or educate yourself but above all...get some teaching.
