Barcelona is a dope city. Had a great time there before. Only thing you need to watch out for is the pickpockets and scammers but have your wits about you and it's fine.

I’m trying to explore it all
I was going to try to do Spain in Italy, but I think that’s too much. I rather just focus on one country at a time.
He’s a local guy who never travels so you can’t take him serious.
He just found a reason to be upset when he could’ve just avoided the thread.

I wasn't a huge fan of Madrid tbh. Nice museums though. I would recommend spending time in Andalucia, where you'll see more "typical" architecture including the Moorish influence. If you go in that area the Mezquita in Cordoba is a must-see. From there you're not that far from Portugal so if you really want to combine two countries you could end your trip in Lisbon.
I mean what do you like to do? It has dope beaches, dope museums, lot of nice seafood and steakhouses, lots of tours, big shopping areas, etc
