So many memories for this song...

First time I heard it was at a club, back in the days when DJs used to actually break new music. Months before the video dropped. A couple DJs around my way would play it.

I was like "This new Pharrell goes. The hell is this beat?" :damn: I didn't even know it was a Snoop record at first because a) Pharrell went first b) the DJs wouldn't play the full thing and c) this is around the time Pharrell did "Clones"/NERD so I just thought it was a continuation of whatever the Neptunes were doing.

People acted weird with the song at first. I remember a couple of people like me being :damn: :stylin: but mostly everyone else was :what: :lupe: They didn't hate it but it didn't get a huge reaction.

I go to Jersey to hang with family right before the video drops. I catch the video on 106, the shyt has me like :damn: :whew: "this is one of the best videos I've ever seen".... I come back to Canada and suddenly everyone's going :damn: :stylin: over the record.

Never underestimate the power of an appealing video.

anyway.... fukking classic. A perfect song.

I remember everyone hating it. We were all talking about snoops old shyt and how he's a joke now. The funny shyt is if you play it now everyone gets nostalgic and excited but at the time no one took it serious.

straight up. At the end of the day, most people have no idea what the hot shyt really is. That's why marketing exists.

I loved it first time... loved the 808'ish drum beat... then the keyboard!

Unfortunately a lot of songs from that era got played out forever more and that's one of em.
