timbaland shyt for r&b >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> his shyt for hip hop

he came up under the devante swing umbrella and while timbaland's style of production was more piano laced like devante's, after learnin' a lot from devante, timbaland made more beats tailored for r&b IMO than he did hip hop. i always fukked with his r&b shyt more than hip hop, even though what he doin' is hip hop beats, it's just the shyt he did fo the r&b records he produced always worked better than his shyt for hip hop records IMO

like take a listen to these

A lot of Tim's R&B production could easily work for rappers though. I mean, he literally gave Jay Z Playa's "Cheers 2 U" for "nikka What, nikka Who".

the best beat he produced for jay is nikka what, nikka who. HANDS DOWN

big pimpin' really was never that impressive to me. it's a classic, yeah but that beat never really wowed me, not like nikka what, nikka who

esp if you ever try to spit on that beat...how jay and jaz found the pocket to go in is amazing..they rode that beat perfectly...thats why i referenced that tim track with the right artist

Gotta vendetta even though I been better
Left him in the cold with a thin sweater
Rap nikkaz on Prozac get the bozack, nikkaz threw
Two at me I threw fo' back, hold that
Let the dough stack, way before Biggs had the gold Ac'
Dame had the Lex black
Motherfukkers wanna test that, stress that
And right where you're stressed at, where you rest at
I suggest that, nikkaz invest, in a vest, when I come through
With the glock jet black, you nikkaz step back
I'm the best at, you know I ain't no apprentice to this
Me and my nikkaz we invented the shyt
I came into the business with this, The Originator, none greater
Jaz-O finish this shyt

i don't even fukk with jay like that or vol. 2 but when he spit that with that flow it had me like :dame:..:wow:...then back to :dame:

From the "Headsprung" thread:

This is an interesting thought, that is not without some merit...

Tim has given heat to some of the greatest of all-time:

Nas
Jay Z
LL
Snoop Dogg
Magoo (don't fight me, niccas.)
Westside Connection
Beanie Sigel
Jadakiss
Ludacris
Li'l Kim
Fabolous
Pastor Troy

...but we can see they have not been some of their greatest work. What of this? What does this say for Timbalands' standing in the game? Discuss.
It was their failure,Timbo was at the forefront of his field, longer than most nikkas on that list were at the front of theirs.
Also timbaland created new stars that rode into the top on his production.
He's a goat level producer regadless.

Timbaland is top 5 in hip hop as far as I'm concerned. Mostly because he took hip hop and broadened it. Gave it some sex appeal and made it female friendly. And not in a corny way. In a way that's still very hip hop at its core.

Look at modern hip hop now. It's pretty much one big Timbaland-esque beat on repeat. Nobody was doing that Southern bounce shyt till Timbaland came out. In fact, it's not until recent times that some people have found out it was basically Timbaland's take on super-underground Memphis shyt.

You're one of the best posters on this site! :salute:

I've never heard this joint before :ohhh: shyt's fire!

Completely agree. But the Tim and Jay ratio is too hit or miss.

With that CLASSIC that was "Nicca What, Nicca Who?" you got:

"Lobster & Scrimp" = cool
"Paper Chase" = ehhh
"It's Hot" = ehhh
"Snoopy Track" = TRASH
"Big Pimpin'" = CLASSIC
"Is That Yo' Chick" = CLASSIC
"Hey Papi" = had to grow on me
"Too Many Hoes" = cool
"What They Gonna Do" = should not have happened
"Dirt Off Your Shoulder" = should not have happened
"Holy Grail" = should not have happened
"Drunk In Love" = yuck

:dahell:

All credibility gone with that line. I was agreeing with you until that point and then just flat out left field randomness. Come on fam.

The thing with Timbaland is that most rappers went to Timbaland for club records or Top 40 reaches and that's exactly what they got. A lot of them were out of their element because that wasn't their lane. So yeah, Bubba Sparxxx, Missy Elliott, and Petey Pablo, Aaliyah, Ginuwine, Justin Timberlake, and Nelly Furtado got the best out of Tim because

1) He played to their strengths

2) He was able to play to their strengths because they tapped him for more than just a single. He did multiple songs or helmed the album.

And he proved more than capable of doing more than a club record or a typical single:

^^^ a record like this doesn't make the album, but the Sean Paul record does :snoop:

my sentiments exactly and :salute:for dropping that lil kim joint..i remember tryna record that off the radio as a kid and always catching it on the second verse and shyt...and they rarely played it too..the struggle was real back then :wow:

^^^ Best Snoop Dogg/Timbaland collabo

^^^ Type of joints rappers act like they afraid to cop from Timbaland. Any MC that's great shouldn't have any trouble gettin' busy over those beats, but since those are the joints they don't cop, we are stuck with Tim & Magoo rhyming over them. I stand by the argument that Timbaland & Magoo's Welcome To Our World is one of the greatest produced Hip Hop albums ever. Give those beats to Biggie, Jay, Nas, Kast, or any great MC and you possibly have one of the GOAT Hip Hop albums.
