What I think is interesting is how 6th Sense is on almost everyone's list. Which makes sense to me. I missed out on Com's "Resurrection" and "One Day". I heard tracks here and there of random Common songs (don't remember which ones) and I thought he was corny. Conscious shyt just wasn't hot. I started warming up to dude after 1-9-9-9, and when 6th Sense came out, it was a wrap. This is why Premo is so necessary

I don't think it makes him corny per se it just validates what you were saying about conscious rap being out of style.

But considering his late 90s early 2000s emergence into that realm of rap, what do you make of his counterparts around that time like Talib Kweli and Mos Def and similar rappers?

I thought Common managed to not make his rapping so corny in that department and one of the best to boot. I will say that while I do enjoy TPAB musically I think Kendrick CAN come across as a little corny sometimes when he tries to accomplish the same results. Rappers have done that style better.
