TBH its mainly the 3d stuff from the mid 90s that has aged horribly. The original Tomb Raider is borderline unplayable. I played through Parasite Eve lately and its still great because of the gameplay but god damn it is hard on the eyes. FF7 as well.

A lot of the 2d shyt from years before like Castlevania, Megaman, Zelda etc is still aesthetically pleasing imo.

I think people just didn't like the way you leveled and grinded in the game, all that drawing got annoying sometimes
