they are not better than the Geto Boys and UGK
:stopitslime: for no Outkast
like em or not they are top 5

outkast is on the list dog. and very high, I must say.

hot boys >>> geto boys and ugk.

respect to texas but geto boys & ugk had too many struggle raps to be #1. and they certainly didn't have the wave, nor impact that the hot boys had.

guerrilla warfare >>>> any southern group LP.

east coast group

Va Beach is a couple hundred miles further south than Lexington, KY (where Cunninglynguists are from), like 100 miles further south than Richmond, VA (the capital of the Confederacy) and like 30 minutes from NC....basically, the entire Hampton Roads area is waaaaay below whatever point people start the making the "Northern VA is mid-atlantic, not really the south" distinctions...that part of Virginia is solidly the south

this is hip-hop tho.

Virginia is east coast on the hip-hop map.

most Virginia rappers don't even claim the south. a lot of them will flat out state that theyre east coast rappers.

the clipse being one of those groups that don't claim the south. and I vaguely remember them saying that theyre east coast. not sure about that one, but I know that theyre basically philly rappers, and a lot of Virginia itself is very philly-ish.

the hot boys helped define an era. those other 3 groups didn't. do I really have to touch on their cultural influence? like really homie?

they were packing arenas - with hood crowds. I remember in 2000, they headlined & co-headlined 2 major tours. packing some venues 3 different times within the same year. those 3 groups that youre mentioning, never came close to doing any of that.

:comeon: you gonna ignore "get it how u live"? that's better than most of the albums you listed as well.

having a 3-4 year run, hitting the apex of the game, then breaking up >>>> decades of dwindling around the midcard or just flat-out getting lost in the shuffle

and outkast aint make no great music for no decades. they have an arguably classic debut, a hot follow-up, another good album, then they crapped out in quality but went pop and made crazy $$$.

:russ: I have no idea what parts of Virginia those are...but Virginia Beach and Hampton Roads in general (on the extreme southern part of the state and like 5 or 6 hours from philly), sure the fukk ain't one of them...unless we assume Philly just adopted the entirety of that region when the Sixers drafted AI

Clipse not claiming the south ain't shyt the but the "rapper racist, region hater" equivalent of c00ning :heh: ... like Outkast talking about how they used to pretend to be from New York when they were early teenagers...remnants of a pre-southern takeover era before the south became the major force in hip hop.....timbaland's from the same exact area they're from, like 10 minutes down the highway, and has no delusions where he's from

"Here's come Timbaland...I'm also from the South"

But I won't belabour the point too much...the list is shytty enough without adding that kind of nuance

yea, I was about to say that timbaland is the only VA dude that I ever heard say he was from the south. and that was the song actually. but timbaland aint really hip-hop tho. hes an r&b producer that crossed over cuz of his drums.

also, don't get mad at the clipse. I said i "VAGUELY remember them saying theyre east coast". and even then, i think they were referring to their style. but like i said, most Virginia rappers never claimed south.

listen to mad skillz when he referred to the south as "yall" in one of his wrap-up songs. he didn't say it in a negative manner or anything. it just goes to show that Virginia rappers generally don't view themselves as southern. nor were they ever viewed as such. since when has any Virginia rapper ever been enlisted in the southern market? not even timbaland & magoo.

and i don't know what youre throwing shots at me for. if you don't like the list, then state your beef. all that other chit is for the birds.

YES let me know what influence they made. the "bling bling" shyt...thats it?!?!?

That tour shyt is nice...dont hold a candle to what the other groups brought to the game ...let alone Outkast

"Get It How You Live"...........really...stop it ::stopitslime:

music wise those three groups are better...wayyyy better

if those groups' music was so much better like you claim, they would have greater results to show for it.

"get it how you live" is held in high-regard actually.

how does what i said about the hot boys(and mind you, im just barely scratching the surface) not hold a candle to what the other groups brought to the game? what did they bring?

the "bling bling" stuff isn't even the main influence that the hot boys had. their cultural influence was prominent in just about every aspect. from the music to the style, slang, fashion, etc etc. no other southern clan ever did such. not even the no limit soldiers.
